DAWN STERLING

Dawn Sterling has spent the last decade perfecting her craft as not just a nail artist, but a creative collaborator with some of fashion, music, and Hollywood's biggest names. From the runways of New York, Milan, and Paris, to the red carpets of the Oscar, BAFTAS, Met Ball, and Vanity Fair, to advertisers such as Valentino, Tiffany's, The Row, Marni, Victoria’s Secret, & Telfar, Dawn Sterling is not just a nail artist, but a creative trailblazer representing not just the craft of nail art, but her community as a black queer female business owner.

Beginning in a small salon in BK Sterling realized there was another side of the nail world that hailed to fantasy, imagination and expression. Betting on herself, in 2010 she decided to become a true student of her craft and assisted for shows like Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab, and Louis Vuitton. She realized she too could contribute to the zeitgeist of the fashion and beauty world.

Being that fashion is a small and exclusive community, Dawn pushed to make the art of nail design not just a last minute accessory but an integral piece of the creative vision. From custom colors, shapes, designs and more, Dawn Sterling has helped push the current era dial design as not only accessible luxury, but a fanciful playground of self expression. Being a black queer woman and mother of four, Dawn has defied all odds being the singular artist of her status and caliber.
